America's Got Talent: Semifinals - Acts 11-20
Airdate: Tuesday, September 8, 2009 [9-11pm]
I want to apologize in advance for my commentary tonight. I wasn't paying complete attention to AGT because I was trying to tune in to Kaleb Nation's BlogTV midnight release party for his debut book, Bran Hambric: The Farfield Curse at the same time. Because of this, my comments are shorter and I was bored by the performances (except Barbara Padilla).
- Recycled Percussion [Band]: I am a little disappointed by them this week. They seemed like they tried to find any excuse to hit something, anything. Last time, it looked planned out, and every move was for a reason. This time, however, it was all over the place.
- Lawrence Beamen [Singer]: It was just okay. At times, his voice wasn't as strong. I wouldn't move him forward based on this performance, but it's hard to tell what the rest of America will think.
- Erik & Rickie [Ballroom Dancers]: There is no doubt they are great, but it seemed like the producers might have picked the Michael Jackson song and theme for them. I doubt these kids would have chosen that. I don't think the song fit their dance, but they still are great dancers.
- Jeffrey Ou [Pianist]: He goes back to the mad pianist that the judges loved, and now they don't like it. I don't get the judges anymore. But I finally agree with them on Jeffrey Ou. I've never gotten this style of being all over the place. And what was up with his hair? Fits the style, I guess.
- Hairo Torres [Breakdancer]: I still don't understand why he's still on the show. There was some dancing that was nothing extraordinary. Not a million dollar act.
- The EriAm Sisters [Singing Group]: I still don't like this act. Their voices were flat throughout, as usual. And the song was kind of boring.
- Mario & Jenny [Comedy variety duo]: This is one of those acts that shouldn't have gotten past the auditions. This was terrible! What was the point of it? We've gone from bad to horrible.
- Drew Stevyns [Singer]: The first half was not that good. But the last half picked up when his voice got stronger. He has a unique voice and I am glad he got better as the song went on. It wasn't perfect, but better than most before him.
- FootworKINGz [Dance ensemble]: There was nothing special here. I did not see any moves that were epic or original.
- Barbara Padilla [Opera singer]: They saved the best for last. Nobody was able to touch her level of talent tonight. I think she topped her previous performance. She is sailing into the finals, for sure.

Top 10 Predictions: Lawrence Beamen / Hairo Torres / The EriAm Sisters / Drew Stevyns / Barbara Padilla
The producers have changed the rules one again. First, the judges send two acts to the finals instead of one last week; this week, there will be five acts going forward instead of four, and there will be no Judge's Choice this week as well. Hmm, this might make for some interesting results.
Like I said, I apologize for giving a half-hearted effort this week. As far as I am aware, I will not have any distractions next week for the finals, so I promise to do better at that time.
