Last Comic Standing: Final 2
Topic: Last Comic Standing

Last Comic Standing
Final 2

This week on Last Comic Standing, Gerry Dee was eliminated, leaving the final 2 to be Jon Reep and Lavell Crawford.  I keep predicting Lavell to move forward in the competition and he definitely is.

During this week's Top 2 performances, Jon Reep is funny again.  I have said that he hasn't been getting the laughs lately, but this week he was back and ready to hit it out of the ballpark.  However, Lavell was once again above and beyond everyone.  I think he brought out his best set this week; I was laughing out loud practically the whole time.  So, I voted for him this week, both by phone and online, and I predict him to win this year's Last Comic Standing title.

Next Wednesday is the finale at 9pm on NBC, where we will find out who is the winner.  I can't wait for that.  See ya then...

Carrie Underwood's New Album Cover
Topic: American Idol

I went onto Amazon.com today, and I found that they are showing the cover for Carrie Underwood's sophomore album, "Carnival Ride."  Below is the cover:

Carival Ride will be released in stores October 23rd!

I just want to say that I love the cover! Her debut album, Some Hearts, is one of my favorite CD's, and I know that when this new one comes out, I will love it as well.

Remembering September 11, 2001
"We Will Never Forget"

I want to take this time to acknowledge what we all know today is. Today marks the 6 year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our country. To put political differences aside for everyone today is something we all should do, and just to stop and remember those who were lost on that tragic day, and those who risked their lives to save others. Today is Patriot Day, and we should never forget what happened on the day that changed not only our nation, but also the world.

Below is a Sept.11 tribute video I found I YouTube to the song of Alan Jackson's "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)." If you do not want to see any footage from that day, then do not view the video.

Below are the lyrics to the song, courtesy of azlyrics.com:
"Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)"

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Working on some stage in LA
Did you stand there in shock at the site of
That black smoke rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger
In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below

Did you burst out in pride
For the red white and blue
The heroes who died just doing what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself to what really matters

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Speak with some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

The greatest is love
The greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day

Sherri Shepherd joins 'The View'
Topic: TV/Entertainment News

Well, as Barbara Walters said as today's episode of The View began, it was indeed "the worst-kept secret of the month."  Right away, she announced that Sherri Shepherd is the new permanate cohost to replace the empty seat left by Star Jones after her exit last year.  Now, after a year of waiting, we finally have a full cast again, with Whoopi replacing Meredith and Rosie, and Sherri replacing Star, who both join Joy, Elisabeth, and Barbara on the 'View' panel.

I am so glad that Sherri is a regular now, instead of just a guest co-host.  Every time she would be on the show co-hosting, she was always hilarious, had interesting stories to tell, and meshed well with the rest of the ladies, including Whoopi, now.

Now that there are no empty seats left, let's look at who we got here.  Like I said in my post on September 4, I am also glad that Whoopi is the new moderator.  Now that she has been on for a week, I can tell that she will continue to be great on the show.  And since she is in a multi-year contract, we can see her on the show for more than one year, which is fantastic.  Unfortunately, I don't know the details of Sherri's contract.  However, we do know that a while back, there were reports that she was in negotiations for the show, and that she wanted as much money as Joy and Elisabeth are getting to be on the show.  So, since I don't know the details of her contract, I can't say if that wish was finally granted, or if she had to compromise.  And I also hope that she will be on for more than one year as well, so that the show can be stable with regards to keeping the same cohosts on for awhile.

So, anyway...that's my view on this matter, and I know that both Whoopi and Sherri will make the show exciting.

2007 Emmy Predictions: And my pick goes to...
Topic: TV/Entertainment News

With one week to go until the 2007 Emmy Awards, it's time for me to make my annual picks and predictions. Check out our Emmy Awards page for a list of the nominations, plus my predictions, at https://tvwatchonline.tripod.com/emmys.html/.  In this BLOG post, I will giving a rundown of who I picked and predict to win, and why I chose them.  So without further ado, here they are:

Drama Series: The Sopranos.  This was a hard choice for me, because at first, it was between Grey's Anatomy and Heroes for me, because I watch those two shows. Then I brought Sopranos into the loop because with all the buzz that was around the final season, it was obvious this show is a serious contender for the Emmy. It seems like that whenever a big show ends, that show wins awards at the upcoming award show. So that is why I chose The Sopranos to win Drama Series.

Actor in a Drama Series: James Gandolfini, The Sopranos.  I chose James to win here for the same reason I chose The Sopranos for Drama Series.  I don't watch any of the shows whose actors are nominated in this category, so this guess is as good as any. But I think he has a great chance of winning.

Actress in a Drama Series: Edie Falco, The Sopranos.  Again, I chose Edie to win this category for the same reason I chose The Sopranos for Drama Series and James Gandolfini for Actor in a Drama Series.  But picking for this category was a tad hard for me because I usually watch Medium, and Patricia Arquette is nominated, and I watch Brothers & Sisters, and Sally Field is nominated.

Supporting Actor in a Drama Series: Masi Oka, Heroes.  While this was hard to choose for me, it was also kind of a no brainer.  With Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn from Lost, T.R. Knight from Grey’s Anatomy, and Masi Oka from Heroes all nominated, it was hard, because I watch all those shows.  But Masi Oka is a brilliant actor, and he plays the role of Hiro like no other actor would be able to.

Supporting Actress in a Drama Series: Chandra Wilson, Grey’s Anatomy.  With three Grey’s Anatomy stars nominated in this category (Katherine Heigl, Sandra Oh, Chandra Wilson), it was hard at first for me to choose one.  But I broke it down and looked at how they play their characters, and Chandra Wilson stood out for me. Her character is one of my favorites on Grey’s, and she definitely deserves this Emmy.

Guest Actor in a Drama Series: Forest Whitaker, ER.  Now it’s getting harder, because I did not or do not watch any of the shows nominated, but I decided to choose Forest Whitaker, who guest starred on ER, because after an Oscar win, it should be a piece of cake for him to win an Emmy.

Guest Actress in a Drama Series: Kate Burton, Grey’s Anatomy.  Looking at this category, for me it was down to Kate Burton, who played Ellis Grey on Grey’s Anatomy, and Elizabeth Reaser, who played Jane Doe on Grey’s Anatomy. They were both excellent in their roles on the show.  I couldn’t decide on this one, so I just randomly picked one between the two of them, and I so I chose Kate Burton.

Comedy Series: Ugly Betty.  This was probably the easiest decision I had to make when making my picks and predictions, because Ugly Betty is one of the best shows on television, and there is brilliant writing, directing, and acting.  I think we can say for certain that Ugly Betty will be winning this Emmy.

Actor in a Comedy Series: Steve Carell, The Office.  I don’t watch any of the shows whose actors are nominated in this category.  So I just chose Steve Carell, because he’s kind of like the default person to pick.

Actress in a Comedy Series: America Ferrera, Ugly Betty.  Like Comedy Series, this was one of the easiest decisions I had to make for this year’s Emmys, because to go along with what I said for that category, America Ferrera plays Betty in a way that you love her, appreciate her, and sympathize with her.  And again, like I said with Comedy Series, I think we can say for certain that America will be winning an Emmy next week.  But I’m not putting down the other actresses nominated here, because Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives) is also nominated and she is also deserving of the Emmy.

Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series: Neil Patrick Harris, How I Met Your Mother.  I don’t watch any of the shows nominated in this category, so I just randomly chose someone, and that someone was Neil Patrick Harros.

Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series: Vanessa Williams, Ugly Betty.  I love Vanessa Williams on Ugly Betty, playing Wilhelmina (I hope I spelled that right).  Since I already said Ugly Betty is one of the best shows on TV, and watching her act on the show, she is really deserving of the Emmy.

Guest Actor in a Comedy Series: Stanley Tucci, Monk.  I don’t watch any of the shows nominated in this category, so I randomly chose someone again.

Guest Actress in a Comedy Series: Judith Light, Ugly Betty.  This was a hard one for me to decide, because Judith Light, who plays Claire Meade on Ugly Betty, is great, as is Dixie Carter, who played Gloria Hodge on Desperate Housewives, and Laurie Metcalf, who played Carolyn Bigsby on Desperate Housewives.  So it was all a matter narrowing it down from there.

Miniseries: The Starter Wife.  I have heard great things about this show, so that is why I chose it.

Made For TV Movie: The Ron Clark Story.  Some of you are probably thinking that when putting this movie up against some of the other nominees, it won’t stand a chance.  But I chose this movie because I believe in the power of education, and the power of a great teacher, and that is what this movie is all about (by the way, if you didn’t know, I am in college to become a teacher).

Actor in a Miniseries or Movie: Matthew Perry, The Ron Clark Story.  To continue with what I said above, I believe in the power of a great teacher, and Matthew Perry plays the role of Ron Clark, the real life teacher who changed the lives of many people, and after reading Ron Clark’s books to get a sense of how he would be, I believe that Matthew played the part really well.

Actress in a Miniseries or Movie: Debra Messing, The Starter Wife.  Like I said earlier, I have heard great things about this show, so that is why I chose Debra Messing.

Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie: Joe Mantegna, The Starter Wife.  Same as what I said before for The Starter Wife.

Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie: Judy Davis, The Starter Wife.  Same as what I said before for The Starter Wife.

Variety, Music or Comedy Series: Late Show with David Letterman.  When looking at this category, I narrowed it down to The Daily Show and The Late Show.  Nothing against Conan (Late Night), but Letterman has the better show, and that is also why I chose him over Jon Stewart.

Variety, Music, or Comedy Special: Wanda Sykes: Sick and Tired.  Tony Bennett’s special is also nominated in this category, and it seems like he is winning everything he is nominated for in all these award shows, but I love Wanda Sykes’s comedy style, and that is why I chose her.

Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program: Ellen DeGeneres, 79th Annual Academy Awards.  Like I said above, Tony Bennett seems to win everything, but Ellen did a fabulous job hosting the Oscars, and I think she has a great chance at winning this Emmy to go along with all the other ones she has so deservingly won.  Plus, I can't just abandon my favorite celebrity when she's nominated for an Emmy.

Reality Competition Program: American Idol.  Even though The Amazing Race has won every year, I will always pick American Idol if it is nominated in this category.  American Idol is the best reality show out there, and millions out there can attest to that.

Reality Program: Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.  I’ve only watched a few episodes of Kathy Griffin’s reality show, but it is a great show.

Wow, that was a long post; probably my longest one yet.  Anyway, the 59th Annual Primetime Emmys are next Sunday, September 16, 2007, at 8pm on Fox, hosted by Ryan Seacrest.  After we find out who won and who lost, I'll do a follow up post, comparing my picks/predictions with who actually won.

Last Comic Standing: Final 3
Topic: Last Comic Standing

Last Comic Standing
Final 3

On this week's episode of Last Comic Standing, Amy Schumer was eliminated, leaving the final 3 to be: Gerry Dee, Lavell Crawford, and Jon Reep.

Before the final 3 performed, last year's winner, Josh Blue, came back to perform.  He was hilarious!  I picked him to win from the beginning, and he always makes me laugh.

Lavell was the funniest this week, as always, and he always makes me laugh nonstop the way Josh Blue did on the show and still does.  I voted for him this week, both by phone and online.  And I still predict him to win.  And if I had to predict who will be going with him to the final 2, it would be Gerry Dee.  He is really funny as well.  And that's not to say that Jon Reep isn't, but lately he hasn't been getting the laughs he did at the beginning.

So, we'll see next week who will be performing in the final 2 showdown.

Whoopi's First Day on The View
Topic: TV/Entertainment News

Well...today Whoopi Goldberg officially joined The View as the moderator, replacing Rosie O'Donnell (who, by the way, I loved on the show and, no matter what people say, was a tremendous asset and provided something the show really needed).

When the show began, we saw the brand new set in "warm hues of yellow" as ABC put it.  I really like the new set, but I do have to say I missed last season's blue set.

Anyway...Whoopi walked out first, joined, in a delay, by Barbara Walters, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Joy Behar.  When they all sat down, Whoopi said, "Good Morning, I'm Whoopi Goldberg," and the audience cheered.

I think she'll be great on the show.  She's signed to a multi-year contract, which is great.

As the show started, I'm surprised that they didn't spend a whole lot of time focused on her.  They quickly moved into Hot Topics.  I realize that they did have that video segment later on about her, but I would've loved to have them talk about her for a little bit, but when they did Hot Topics, it went really well.  Whoopi is a natural at this, and has shown, through guest moderating last season and today's premiere, that she will be an excellent moderator, who I hope to see for a long while on The View.

Take a little time to enjoy the view...
(I just had to do that).

Last Comic Standing
Final 4

This week on Last Comic Standing, Ralph was eliminated, leaving the final 4 to be: Gerry Dee, Lavell Crawford, Amy Shumer, and Jon Reep.

I voted for Lavell and Amy.  And my pick to win is Lavell Crawford.  Last year, I picked Josh Blue to win, and he did win, so we'll see if I'm right this year.  But I also like Amy as well.

On a side note, I was gone last week when the final 5 performed, so I was not able to vote by phone, but I was still able to vote online since the online voting is open until Sunday, so for the final 5 voting, I voted for Lavell.

TV Watch Online: 3 Year Anniversary!
Topic: TV Watch Online
Today marks the 3-year anniversary of TV Watch Online (originally named Dodgeroo54's Website). This site has gone through many changes and redesigns over the past 3 years to make it the best site it can be (including adding a BLOG). And frequent visitors may recall that every time this site has an anniversary, I change the design of the whole site, and makes many changes to update it for another year. Well, this time I won't be doing that. The background you see will stay, and any changes I make will be completed when I feel they need to be done. And I am working on some additions for TV Watch Online, including a store, powered by Amazon.com, and much more! Look out for announcements on these in the coming weeks.

Rearranging pages on TV Watch Online
Topic: TV Watch Online

If you haven't noticed already, I have rearranged some of the pages on TV Watch Online. Below is a recap of what I did:

The pages for Amazing Race, Apprentice, and American Idol have been removed from the navigation bar until those shows return midseason. You can still view those pages in the Site Map. The Lost page is still on the navigation bar because even though the show will not return until February, there will still be news to post in the meantime; and even though American Idol won't return until January, the Idol News page will still be on the navigation bar. And the 7th Heaven page has now been deleted from TV Watch Online.

I have made these changes in lead up for the new TV season beginning next month.  On September 1, I will be updating the fall show pages to reflect the new TV season.

----------END OF SPOILERS----------

Well, there you go.  I think I did pretty well, considering the amount of theories and predictions people had before the release.

As I said, this is my last Countdown to Deathly Hallows post, and to end it, I would like to wish a very, very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the woman to started the phenomenon: J.K. Rowling! who turns 42 today.  And we can't forget to wish a Happy Birthday to the The Boy Who Lived himself: Harry Potter, who turns 27 today!

Regarding my review of Deathly Hallows: I am really busy right now with summer classes at college, and some new projects for the site, so that's why I don't have it up right now, but I hope to have it up sometime in August.

On a side note: I received the first Harry Potter movie review to post on TV Watch Online, and while the reviewer gave the movie a horrible review, I will still be posting it.  Look out for that sometime this week.

Kelly Clarkson Apologizes to Clive Davis
Topic: American Idol

Again, I'm sorry I'm a little late on this news post.

So...American Idol Season 1 Champ Kelly Clarkson has apologized for everything that happened regarding the feud with her new CD, My December.  Throughout this whole controversy and feud, I've support Kelly all the way.  I'm a huge fan of hers, and always will, no matter what type of music she comes out with.  I personally love her new CD, and support her with wanting to make this CD her way.

Now that she's apologized, I hope everyone can move past it, and focus on how great My December is, because it is some of her best work.

If you haven't already done so, buy her new CD now! You can do so on TV Watch Online  on the Idol News page: stroll down on the left side until you see the Amazon product link for her CD and click on it.  Remember: Every time you buy a product through TV Watch Online, you are helping out the site.

Drew Carey Is New Price Is Right Host
Topic: TV/Entertainment News

First off, I'm sorry it's taken me a little bit to comment on this news item. I've been busy this week.

Anyway...It was announced that sitcom star and "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" host is the new host of CBS' "The Price Is Right."  Here are my thoughts:

He was great on his sitcom, that was a great show.  Even though I loved "Whose Line is It Anyway?" I didn't particularly like him as the host of that improv show.  And that is probably why my parents don't think he should be hosting Price is Right.

For me...after letting it sink in a little bit that he's the new host and would be replacing Bob Barker, I actually think he will do really well on that show.  He has a great personality, and he has an energy that will be great on the show.  So I guess it's all a matter of waiting to really see how he will do as host.  I haven't watched Price is Right on a regular basis for quite a while, though I did watch Bob Barker's last million dollar spectacular show and his final show.  Since I want to see how Drew will do, I will probably watch the first few eps he hosts to see how he is, because unfortunately I don't have the time to watch it everyday.

Congrats to Drew Carey on becoming the new host of "The Price Is Right."

Countdown to Deathly Hallows
Post 7: Finished Book Last Night

I finished the book last night at about 10:30-10:45.

I will give a review of the book at a later time.  But to say something about it: I loved it!  I think that the end of the book was the perfect way to end the series.  Harry Potter fans will not be disappointed.

I'm not sure when I will reread it again, but when I do, I will take my time a lot more to pick up the details and such like we all do with all the books.

But anway...I loved the book, and will post a review eventually.  So, see ya then...

Countdown to Deathly Hallows
Post 6: Over Halfway Through

Again, you're probably thinking: it's afternoon on the second day since the book has been released and I'm only just over halfway through.

It seems like I'm taking my time.  And I think it's for a couple of reasons.  One, I do have to do other things around the house. And two...I think deep down it may be because I don't want it to end.

But no matter...I'm loving the book so far, and I'm about to learn what the Deathly Hallows are.

We'll see if I get done tonight. I still have some homework I have to do before the end of today, and a few other things, so if I don't get done today, then I'll definitely have to be careful on Monday for anybody talking about the book.

My grandma and aunt stopped by just for a few minutes.  My aunt is a big Potter fan like me, so I gave her a few tidbits to tease her for what I've read so far.

Countdown to Deathly Hallows
Post 5: 10 Chapters in...

I know what you may be thinking...It's 6pm and I'm only 10 chapters in.  But you have to take into consideration the book didn't come until 1pm.

Anyway...I'm loving the book so far.  I don't want to give anything away, but there's been a lot of action, and it seems that a lot is happening in such a short amount of time.

Gotta get back to reading...If I don't give another update tonight, I will definitely do so first thing tomorrow morning.  I want to read at least half the chapters today (& only 8 more chapters until I accomplish that).  See ya then...
